That's My Child is hosting our annual Hot Dogs & Heroes event on May 12th from 6:30pm-9pm.
Funds raised via this event provide programmatic support for That’s My Child while honoring community leaders.
That’s My Child has empowered and employed over 1,000 teens in our community!
This event allows us to offer all programs free of charge, to scholarship local teen ages 14-19 through programs such as:
• TEEN TO WORK PROGRAM - A job readiness program that prepares teens for the workforce while
connecting them to local employers.
• GENTS TO GENTLEMEN - A mentoring program for young men that builds confidence, improves academic
performance and teaches leadership skills necessary for success in our community.
• LIVING LEGENDS DANCE TEAM - A movement-based art program for young women that encourages
self-confidence, provides a therapeutic, creative outlet and teaches leadership skills necessary for success
in our community.
• THAT’S MY DOG JR. - America’s first teen operated restaurant that provides paid on the job training
learning opportunities for all teens in our community.
This is our 3rd annual Hot Dog & Heroes event! This celebration will entail a night of live music, performances from our youth and great food from local restaurants doing their best take on hot dogs and desserts. But, the highlight of the night will be giving out 4 scholarships to deserving seniors to continue their education. These scholarships are near and dear to our hearts because they are in remembrance of That’s My Child closest and first supporters: The Annie D Lee Scholarship, The Willie Longhorn Jr. Scholarship, The Stephanie Massingale Scholarship, and the
Amendo McKee Scholarship.
